Monkey was amazed at the speed with which the team moved. Glenn did a lot of the roof work.

"He must have an amazing sense of balance the way he moves so confidently around up there," Opice informed no-one in particular. He often talks to himself out loud. If you hear him doing it you might worry. Up to now, only his webmaster admits to hearing him.

Manuvering bundles on the roof.

"Remember," Monkey reminds. "Those rolls of tarp weigh a lot, tho not so much in kilograms which us Czechs use. It's a lot easier to carry 1 kilogram than it is 2.2 pounds walking around on shingles, I should imagine. But still, I don't mind tenths so much as I do fractions. Us plush Europeans never talk about 'one and 17 - 32nds centimeters.' I don't know how you people cope.

"What were we talking about?"

Deck tent meets roof tent.
"There about to start connecting the roof tenting to the deck tenting. Unfortunately, Opice's house's shade cloth is in between and the tarpaulins have to be tucked and clipped around the guide wires. But believe him, you wouldn't wanna sit on his deck in Sacramento's summer heat without the shade cloth pulled out. Be sure to call ahead for reservations."

Slide Show of front tent job.

This (400k) slide-show recreates the excitement and drama of the house further disappearing underneath the tent. It stars Glenn, Doug, with a special guest star appearance.

Watch closely and see if you can spot the guy who single-handedly guided the tarp down from the roof without even using any gravity!

Glenn tends to the chimney.

(450k slide-show: Yes, they're getting bigger, but they're getting better!)  Monkey urges everyone pay particular attention to how Glenn, not only secures the chimney under the tarps, but artistically challenges the viewer to accept two strikingly different color schemes in bold juxtaposition.

"I'll never look at stripes the same way again," Opice gushed.

This looks dangerous.

This looks dangerous.

What trouble has Opice gotten himself into this time?

"Nothing! I'm not in trouble. I'm holding the tarp for Doug so he can finish clipping the last parts of the tent together. Why does everyone always assume the worst about me?"

Doug is ready for his close-up.

Sure enough, Doug grabs tarp and rolls & clips. He's no-nonsense when it comes to getting the job done. Unfortunately, his rush to finish causes him to fail to notice two things:

1) he's mismatched the stripes, and

2) Monkey's still underneath "protecting" the sign.

All that's left to do is securely sandbag all the tarps to the ground all the way around the house and deck. It would seem like a simple procedure, but there are risks when you've extra bits. (roll-over foto) A horrible terrible sandbaging accident.

Monkey teases the next chapter.

"Everything is tented and we're ready to fill up the balloon we've made.

"Please leave all sharp objects here and proceed to Part 3."
